Launched the canoe at Upper Bridge at 7:30. A bit chilly this morning. The water's very clear. Not gin clear like it used to be, but the clearest I've seen since I came back and retired.
Very slow fishing. Picked up one, and only one, keeper on a gold Johnson's Spoon at the first island below Upper Bridge. Saw a bunch of wood ducks at the lower end of the island. Worked my way down to below Cherry Island and back seeing the usual menagerie of bird life and one otter close enough to the bow of the canoe as I was drifting I was thinking, "He aught'er get out of the way." Gave up around 5:30 and headed back to the house with one keeper and two shorts accounted for.
Very clear water, saw lots of bass, saw a few biiig bass, saw lots of beds, saw lots of bass on beds. Started thinking if I had a gig and no scruples I could load the boat. Thankfully I had no gig and plenty of scruples. Anybody need some?
Also saw loads of mullet. May have to start looking into the bowfishing thing.
I put in the Ochlok. at 4:30 and fished till dark with the same results Charles. Several big rolls and short strikes with one keeper coming to the boat. The river is still high right now and the temp was at 54 I fished a floating Rapala
KUDO's on not going after the bedders
“Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them and you have their shoes.”
Don't give me any credit. The only reason I didn't was because I didn't have any tube jigs or plastic lizards with me, just Snagless Sallys and spoons. I wouldn't gig, spear or castnet net'em, though.
It wouldn't hurt my feelings if there were a closed season on bass during the spawn.
However, this wouldn't hurt my feelings either, at all.
