That sounds good Bob, you just come on down and I feel sure we can tighten some lines on something. Ive got all the public reef #s and quite a few of my own, and like I said get in touch before you come and I will e-mail you all of the artificial reef #s close to the Island so you can load them before you come and we will go from there

Hey Bob, I talked to the gal, who works the desk at the Moorings, and she sez they get 1.50 a foot for overnight tie-up. Seems a little high, but Carrabelle is probably closer to the deep water than Appalach or putting in at the SGI bridge. The trade off money for time might be worth it. The drive from most parts of SGI to Carrabelle is about and hour or less.
I'll check with the other two marinas (C-Quarters and Dockside) to see if they offer overnight and what they get per night.
An alternative would be rent on a canal to the west of the SGI bridge, so as to leave the boat in the water, or rent in Carrabelle and let the wife and kids drive to SGI..(that idea probably won't float with them  ) Carrabelle has a few nice rentals, but not much recreation to offer for the family.
Also, if you haven't been to SGI in the past 5 years of so, you will find that it is becoming quite commercial, and crowded during the summer months, but tolerable compared further to the west, PC, etc.
I'll let you know on the other marinas. :-)

Yep, we have already booked a rental. I was sure hoping to leave the boat in the water but I can take it in and out if I have to. There is some kind of sportsman place on the right hand side of the bridge going over to Appalach. Do you know anything about it?

Thanks for the help.

Hey There, You'll be in great territory. July is slower but RedfishJims point:
...consider going early, coming home during the midday heat, and going back out during the late afternoon and early evening. It gets awfully hot on the water during that time of year and a lot of folks, myself included, are of the opinion that the inshore fish slow way down when it gets hot.

The early/late plan is a lot of fun and perfect for the best conditions.
Don't moor your boat, it won't be hard to just put in at Lanark and that gives you access to where you need to go. Nobody has mentioned Dog Island Shoal and fishing there is like hunting in a zoo.

Thanks Littoral. I don't know much about the area so where is Lanark? We will be coming in through Carrabelle and East Point and then over to St.George. I know how to get to Appalach but thats about it.

Any help will certainly be appreciated.

Bob

P.S.-You wouldn't have any numbers for the Dog Island area, would you?

Bob,
Lanark is just before Carrabelle if you're heading west on 98.

If your down with the family a nice day trip would be to take the boat over to St Vincent island. Its about 20 miles from Appalach to the boat ramp than about 1/4 mile across the bay. Very cool place to explore, we have found lots of old indian pottery over there.
