Carrabelle Saturday 2/28

Post by Dale Hollow »

Left out of Carrabelle with 4 fisherman and Capt. Scott on the Renegade at 8am. What a beautiful day on the Water! Capt took us out to close to O tower and we hit on some Snapper. It was sad that we couldn't keep these. LY's and Squid was the bait, and the Squid seemed to be the best bait. Motored west several miles up to Spot #2... Fish everywhere on the Spot.... Took 1 keeper gag... 60' water... Went to Spot #3, 80'... more snapper... Motored to spot number # 4, 70', BAM! Three 30' Red Grouper, 1 Mangrove Snapper. We were in Fog till about 2pm.

Diesal engine #2 wouldn't start.

Motored back in from 28 miles out on one engine 2-6 pm. Drank a case of Fosters... Took a Nap...Drank some more... Took another nap...

Since I came down from Nashville, TN, to fish... It was great being on the water again.

4 keeper Red Grouper
1 Mangrove
1 Gag

Would have loved to had 4 dozen pinfish!!!! Well, I'll be back in June...

Sorry to hear about the motor troubles. Sounds like you made the best of the situation.

Not a bad winter trip.
What was I supposed to do today?

It snowed last night again in Nashville (which I don't care to miss), it was great to be back in 70 degree weather again....

And with a few fish, well, that's just a bonus.

Not to mention, it was dead calm all day... Too calm per the Captain as it was very hard to keep an anchor with no wind...

I would do it again in a heartbeat...

Good report there Dale. First I've heard of any reds being caught, lately.
Think we might give um a try again tomorrow or tuesday.. Sounds like deeper might be better..
Thanks for the clue. :D
