You and me both Skag...
Same area, I didn't see this one until it was too late.
Luckily it was an older rusty trap with no rope
and I was running around 35mph and ran right "through" it.
Made a terrible noise... I was lucky.
Time is the most precious commodity we have in life, stay focused.
It was a quiet weekday and I was cruising carefree on a mid-level tide and cut across the east end of the spoil area instead of rounding the second stake. Out of nowhere there was a loud bang and then a shrieking, grinding sound. I feared a broken crank. Pieces of the trap had encircled the prop and one blade was gone. I waded around but could not find the rest. Fortunately I had a back-up and pliers with a cutting edge and managed to hack an opening, wrestle free the cotter pin and loosen the nut. If it had been winter or a gator infested area it would have been big trouble. I keep the remnants in the office as a conversation piece and reminder of another hard-earned lesson of the sea.
