Actually, I've been trying to spread a rumor (that I started)
that Econfina is closed.

Seriously....see you there this weekend. The ole Fish N Ski Barge
got a repaired bottom (sadly... the last job completed by the
Vaughn's at Steinhatchee Boat Works before the developers
take over their land) and a new electric motor so all is well.
Sure will be nice not to have to wade water in the boat and run
bilge 30 minutes to empty enough water to get up on plane. :o

Afternoon tides looking good to me this weekend...look out
creekmouths!

My goal in 2006 (as it was...and failed...in 05, 04, 03, etc)
stay off so many oyster bars and rocks! :(
It may be that my sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

RHT don't jinx us. You missed my first post of "maiden voyage." My brother just bought a Kenner 1902 and he's already worried about rocks. We normally fish out of my Dixon w/a Go-Devil and I don't worry about hitting nothing.

I see your from Albany - where in Albany?

Mark K

Greetings! I've been tearing up boats and motors at Econfina
since 1970. :smt010
I currently live on NW side of town between Darton and Westover
and work part time at Turner Job Corps after a couple
of retirements. I keep my HIDEOUT at Econfina campground
and spend as much time there as possible.
Stop by and say hello.

Well, heres our report from Econfina for my brother (Mark K). Dad, Mark, and I started late, launching the the boat around 11:30. The goal was to arrive after the wind died and the air temp warmed. The weather couldn't have been much better - pleasant temp with a light breeze. Unfortunately, the fish were not as cooperative as the weather. Mark managed to boat a 14" trout for the only fish of the day. The only bite came on a redfin fished in one of the creek mouths.
The new merc is still in the break in period so we ran out to the bird racks - which apparently were victims of one of last years hurricanes. We only find one of the bird racks and it was semi-horizontal.
It was great day with my dad and big brother in spite of the fishing. The boat ran great. We will try again in a couple of weeks.
