Hummingbird Matrix 47 3D

Post by Atticus »

This bottom machine looks pretty cool. Any opinions or experiences? I like the 3D read-out. I guess Hummingbird has a checkered reputation. Is it worth the risk???? Over a standard Garmin 250????

I'd have to say Garmin, but the new hummers do look interesting and worth a shot...to new for me...Garmin is tried and tested and a proven performer

Humminbird has actually been producing a 3D unit for years. I don't understand how it orients itself.

I never get the 2D display. I guess your stern is at the upper, right-hand corner of the screen moving left-to-right...

Unless Humminbird is doing something different, the transducer on all locatorsd shoots a cone shaped signal. The machine doesn't know what is where in the circle, only that it is there.

Go to the Garmin website and download the owners manual for the 250, or any Garmin bottom machine, for that matter. They have a very good section in all of their manuals explaining how it works. It's worth looking.

Read pages 31 through 33.
