St Marks 3/3

Post by finniefish »

Was getting out off work early so I figured why not, talked to my buddy John and we were out of there at lunch. Put in at the lighthouse at 1:00 and headed east to the mouth of Stony, nothing. Winds 10, fished in 2 - 4 ft of water at 67.5 - 68.3 with decent clarity. Did get to watch a bald eagle go fishing, he did better than us, it was awesome.

We headed west next and fished the mouth and inside Big pass around and over the oyster bars. wind was picking up, water temp inside 68.6, but the water was dark. John managed to hook one fish but promptly manged to loose it and that was it.

Looking over to St Marks from Big pass we see smoke from a prescribed burn that looked really close to the landing as we headed in the channel they had lit the right bank but the big fire was further north. Got the boat on the trailer and headed out when me met one of the forestry guys in front of alot of smoke who says turn on your hazards and go, the flames are jumping the road, OK. Not as bad as it sounded but cool to drive through with flames lapping at the side of the road. few pics below

Heading back with the girls today, more to follow

Maybe that's why they've been clearing the brush along the road.

Tough day of fishin. There'll be better days soon.
What was I supposed to do today?
