REEL REPAIR?
Does anyone know someone local that cleans/repairs reels. I have 2 curados that need it badly and also an ambassador 6500. I also have an all star rod that needs an eye replaced. Thanks

Good afternoon devans850.
Gosh... I can't image why ya'd want to waste time and money clean'm up
. I doubt that the captain you'll be fish'n with would let ya use anything but a ZEBCO...
Kevins has a service but it will probably take a good bit of time to get'm back this time of year. Somebody will probably have a better suggestion.

"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".
I know what you mean. Him and those 888's. I'll stick to shimano, I lkie my stradic and the curado's are hard to beat. I think I have around 6 or 7 curados. I think River's used to fix reels , but I don't know if he does any more. I don't think I will be going to Kevins tho, thats a little further north than I would like to go

I think Scott told me he sends everybody to River's, but I may have misunderstood, or my just be remembering it wrong. I do my own reel maintenance, but have used River's to put new guides on rods. They do good work. I think Leslie does most of it.Jumptrout51 wrote:Scott at Jerrys bait and tackle takes them in for service and repair
By the way, who has a good source for Smoothie drag washers?
for years i,ve ben taking shimano reels, and mailing them to shimano address on box...its in california with a short note stating:please repair or replace.. it usually takes a few weeks but the charge is always minimal, sometimes its your real returned, sometimes it another reel, completely refurbished... sometimes the bill is 6or 8dollars up to 12 to 15 dollars... just dont be in a big hurry. works good for me. good luck
