I moving south of Tallahassee

Post by jsuber »

I'm leaving Virginia to move to Tallahassee area in April. I was wondering how you guys felt about the Crawfordville area. I think I would have a great deal of availability to fresh and saltwater fishing there. Any thoughts on good places for a fisherman to live south of Tallahassee.

I never lived around Tallahassee, but if I had to choose an area it would be south, southeast or southwest of town, plenty of places to fish....I'm sure some will be more helpful than me...we have two realtors that I know can help you if your buying....Let us know when you make it down.

You need to tell where to fish up there at Virginia Beach, I travel up to Norfolk a few times a year, alot of water and people up there.

April no less. Yea, we got fish.
I hail from VA as well -Charlottesville. Our area stomps VA fishing, hands down. I used to do Virginia Beach, James River, New River, Outer Banks -all super fishing -but this is another level. I live in Crawfordville & don't do it. It's growing way too fast. I'd look just east or west. Ask more & we'll help. It's a great place -although you might miss culture.

I'm originally from Thomasville, GA and have lived in Virginia Beach for ten years. I'm moving home now. I went ot Crawfordville and liked what I saw. Most of my work will be on FSU campus so the commute doesn't look too bad from there.

Although I don't live in Crawfordville, on some Fridays, I have seen the lines of traffic stretch for miles comming into town when I am on the way out of Tallahassee to fish areas SSW. If you are already used to a 1 hour 1 way commute, you should feel right at home.....

I don't live in Crawfordville but co-workers do complain about the commute. Flex hours would help.

You tend to get more house for the $- renting or buying.
lots of new construction
Do you have kids? People really like the schools there.

Commute is tight but not terrible- they have been widening the road to town.
There is also a new Walmart under construction.

I liked it so much, I bought the company ;-)

Wakulla County

Post by Apalach »

Hey jsuber,
Great to have you coming to this area, but I would not focus necessarily on Crawfordville per se, but rather all of Wakulla County. There is lots of open space and great fishing (both FW and salt), plus great places to live all thru the county. Also, over the years, the school system has received high marks. The commute to Tally is getting to be a problem, but if you leave maybe 15-30 minutes earlier than the majority of your neighbors (perhaps with some "flex" hours), it isn't so bad. Anyway, a hearty welcome to you and your family, and I look forward to meeting up with you on the water some time, or otherwise.
Best,
Dick

No kids and I typically start at six and end at six except Fridays so it shouldn't be too bad. I focused on Crawfordville, because if I buy a house there before the Walmart and Home Depot open, I could get a pretty good return on my investment there. Also the location is great. I look forward to seeing you all on the water. Keep a tight line.

I live just south of Crawfordville, and love it down here. The commute isn't so bad, as long as you avoid the 7-8am rush and the 5-6pm rush. In fact, it only increased my average drive by about 10 minutes when I moved down here, even though I added 20 miles onto it.
