Finally got to spend some time on the water. NOAA got it wrong both days but tell me something I don't know.
Friday sight fishing conditions were terrible. I ran all over the bay and saw fish on every flat I visited. Ended the day with five reds and two 20+ inch trout. Also spooked some HUGE trout in the shallow stuff. This red was a perfect tournament fish, 26.5 inches and 8lbs. He wouldn't have done well in the Titusville "most spots" tournament, however:
Sight fishing conditions were much better Saturday with bluebird skies. Fished for three hours and finished up with six reds:
Virtually every fish I caught over the last two days came from a school of 50-100 fish. While it is always neat to see them like this, I get way more shots when the water warms and they break up into singles or small pods. Spring hasn't sprung yet, at least for me .
Good Job in tough conditions....Looks fairly rough on the shoal. Know what ya mean about the large groups, especially when their milling about in a circle, sometimes it's enough to drive you nut's. Hurry up spring.
Yeah, nice report. Bad thang is, people say them fish done left the area already. No fish around Lanark....or Carrabelle...Thank thay all over in St Joe bay.
JT: I've read your reports. You don't need my numbers. I'd love to have yours, however.
TC: Let's get out once this weather stabilizes some in April or May.
2True: I fished for 10+ hours over two days and cast no more than 20 times. That's tough fishing in anyone's book. Spring and fall fishing are historically my most productive seasons. For me, spring fishing hasn't hit its stride.
