Got out to a late start, about noon. went about 1/2 a mile of shore an put out a couple shrimp under some cajuns. drifted for about 2 hours with some bites but no fish. then i caught 1 small 13in. trout, after that i gave up and went to the river to this one spot were i've caught some mangrove snapper and some sheepshead before. got there at about 3:30 tosed some peices of shrimp on small jigheads and started to catch some fish. total fish count: 1 sea trout, 6 very small mangrove snapper and 1 small sheepshead. not that good but any day on the water is better than a day of working. :-D
If there is no fishing or dogs in Heaven, I want to go where there is!

That is what I found last week, trout around creek mouths, little'ns drifting. May be day to day, but seems it hasn't caught fire on the flats quite yet.

I went out last Sunday and had an experience similar to yours, Reel. I was drifting in very shallow flats in front of creeks east of the lighthouse and caught about a dozen, mostly short. They didn't start to hit until late morning and then turned off around 1PM. I don't know if it is water temperature or time of day, but when they turned on they were hitting pretty good. Then they just shut off.

It's not summer yet, boys and girls.
