Hit bottoms road. Got a couple bites. Not a fish. Super high tide and clear water.
Went to Bald Point. My buddy managed two keeper Whiting. Least we got something edible.

Coming down in June
Hey fellas
Great board.
My wife booked a house for a few days in june.
It is on Bald point road.
Having never been to the area, What can I expect within walking distance from the house.
It looks like we are a mile or three from the entrance to the state park.
Near Grouper St.
I see on a map that there is a pond behind the house that we are renting.
Do you think it would be salt water or fresh?
What would be best to use for surfcasting.
I like to bottom fish (Drink beer) a lot
Would shrimp or squid be best?
Thanks

Skipper Bay is a good wade....give it a try....If you don't want to drive all the way to the end...park at the make shift dirt launch on the right and walk towards the gulf....take some Deet....We have caught trout from the bank at the end....you can launch a small boat at the end as well...4wd is prefered if the "mud hole" is full of water

the man said he's on Bald Point, not Bottoms
First off, WELCOME ABOARD WOOWOO
The state park is your best bet for catching fish
I'v never surf fished any of the rest of the point, but have seen folks fishing pretty regular where the KOA used to be. A lot of that stretch is shallow, so a good look see at a dead low would give you an idea of where some cuts are at. Maybe someone who has fished it will chime in

“Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them and you have their shoes.”

Thanks for the replys.
I will ride down to the KOA when I get there and check it out.
I am hoping that some of the ponds on bald point are considered brackish water.
I really do not want to buy both licenses.
Looking at Arial photos, it seems that the surf is real shallow all around the point.
We will be staying on the east side of bald point for 10 days
Driving down from Louisville.
I am the only real fisherman in the group, that's why I am looking at spots within bicycle range of our house.
I have also thought of calling around and trying to be a pickup man on a half day trip.
I would love to hear any more advice that board members have
Thanks

BUG SPRAY....(Deet) Do not forget this. The yellow flies can be nasty down there.
Fish from the shore at the state park. If you can get in there at dark fish a big pole with something dead from shore in front of the first oyster bar. Used to catch some big sharks right from shore there.... back in the preboat days.
Rent a kayak if you don't have a boat. There are all kinds of bars to fish, or if your really ballsy you can walk the oyster bars all the way to the channel markers, but it's no fun coming back with a stringer at high tide.
There is a fishing pier at the park also, but no alcohol in the state park, so pack a flask. This website has a couple charter captains that you could try and get on with. Oaks are top notch. The Blow III captain would probably get you on. He's worked with a co-worker of mine to do something similar in the past.

One thought, go down to the Alligator Point marina and let them know that you would like to go out with someone if they have room and will be happy to pay your share on fuel and such for the opportunity

I have a six year old and we try to keep our travels down to earth.
No flashy commercial crap.

Wife is reading the local Sunday paper.
Wife reads article about the forgotten coast.

Good thing I make the decisions around here.
