A Bay Charter

Post by 1-850-Bay-Fish »

With the water temputure on the rise we are finding fish everywhere we go. The bay here in Port St Joe is full of Spanish , Bluefish, Trout , Flounder and a few good Redfish schools. There plenty of L-Ys for bait along with Mullet and Bull Minnows . Live Shrimp seem to be the most productive , but it wont be long before the L-Ys and Mullet bring the bigger fish to the table. The artificials are landing more Trout so throw what you got in your box until you find the one they cant do without.
For us the Trout are going after the white grub with pink twister tail, the spook jr in red and white and the super spook in bone. The Flounder are going for Shrimp on a lead jig head and the Bull Minnows on fish finder rigs. The Blues and Spanish in the deeper holes are hitting them all with trolling being the best for targeting those toothy critters without losing a lot of good tackle. Trolling with a silver spoon with 1 oz egg sinker at around 4 knots has been good for us.
The boats ramps are all busy so be understanding and bite your tongues. We all go through that learning process at the ramp and with a little help from one another we will all have fun on the water.
Good luck and have a safe trip
