Sounds like you had a cold solder joint in the center conductor or some of the outside shielding was touching the center conductor. Either situation would result in funky problems.

Don't be afraid to re-cut and do it right. Nothing worse than trying to fix a wiring problem with the boat going up and down.

Working under the console on small parts is instant :smt078
