Caught a boat ride to the east end and was dropped off around 8:15am. Water was kind of cold and not much bait fish. No one else out there with winds out of the south.
Caught a couple whiting to start things out and noticed how Dennis had removed some of the point.
Tried and tried to catch some macks on spoons with no luck. Went around the Gulf side still nothing.
It was around noon-30 when I listened to that small still voice (God) who brought to memory that a guy told me to try for trout in the little cove on the left.
It was a fisherman that said he caught fish on a catch 2000. (I randomly got green back/white belly one recently) I threw it out a couple times and WHAM! I got a bite. Then I catch a 20 in trout! I hook my buddy up with a mirrot lure and he catches a 23 in trout!! We were catching them left and right!
Picked up at 4pm. All I will say is we left them biting.
One sad note is the big ones had lots of roe in them. FWC should try to protect them until the moms let the eggs out. I was wonderning why Chalk was letting the big ones go.
Totals:
13 trout Biggest 23 in.
2 trout released (Keeper sized)
1 nice Bluefish
3 Whiting
2 Sharks
1 Lost pole (Drag was not set)
What a Great Easter! Thanks Jesus!
