Mamas--don't let your babies grow up to be weather forecasters: Kayak- and Wade-fishing 30 April

Let me preface this report by saying that although many may sign up, few actually show up. Four of us showed up at Savannahs right on time at 0730: Billy, Charles, his son Yuta, and myself As is my wont, I usually don't pay much attention to weather forecasts. I find that sticking my head out the back door at 0-dark-30 on the day of the trip works much better. Since I had spent several hours on Saturday re-doing the wiring on my trailer, I figured what-the-heck, may as well load this baby up and get ready to haul yak to W.B. on Sunday. Turns out I was the only one with a boat! Because of all the negative NOAA weather reports for Sunday, everyone else bailed on the boats. Billy came down for breakfast and to talk up some future trips, but left his boat at home. Charles and his son didn't bring their canoe, but were rigged for mud-slogging and wade-fishing on the West Goose oyster reefs. Great report, Apalach! Thanks!

Kudos to you for braving the forecast! I chickened out and hit Lake Monkey Business today around noon. I stayed out there about four hours and caught 5 - 6 small bass. Hooked up on three larger ones that all got off before I got a good look at them. I desperately need to work on a sturdy hook set when yakkin'. I've lost about 6 - 3 lb.+ bass due to not setting the hook firmly enough. Maybe I'll ask my husband how he does it! Bwahahahaha!

It was a gorgeous day out there though and I kept wondering if the coast had been blessed with the beautiful weather we were getting inland. Sounds like it was pretty close.

Again, thanks for the info. I look forward to the next trip!
