alligator harbor

Post by fish on!! »

I was riding down to AP this morning looking and started thinking about the area as far back into alligator harbor as you can get. The area that you can see from AP road between 98 and bald point rd. It looks good but I have never tried it. Anyone been back in there and had any luck? I bet its skinny.

It is skinny and the only way to cover it is with a real shallow draft boat. My tool is a kayak so it's perfect for that. It's thick with oyster bars which means it must have a decent fresh water input and decent water exchange with the tides. That should add up to fish. I have fished the "head" of the harbor and did decent in the fall but the bugs can seriously chase you out. Your question is pretty relevant to me right now because a relative of mine closed on a house this morning right there at the head of the bay. He says I have access any time it's not rented so I'll know it a lot better soon. In fact, I'll be there all weekend.
