Ronald Fuller, owner of Southern Outdoor Sports in Dothan, invited me to go with him on a trout trip to East Bay yesterday morning and given a choice between walking behind a lawnmower and catching trout, the decision was easy.
It was a challenging day. We noticed the wind starting to pick up as we were launching the boat at Cooks Bayou and by the time we got on the bay it was coming out of the WNW at 15-20, at least.
With the wind coming straight across the bay limiting some of the places we wanted to fish, we spent the day looking for wind shade and trout. We had taken along fly rods and had planned to spend the afternoon in some of the tital marshes working on the bream, but the wind made that impossible too.
We fished until late in the afternoon and wound up with 24 trout, (just two keepers), and 2 flounder.
Except for the aggravating wind the company was good and it still beat mowing the yard.

HEY DON, THAT WIND CAN BE BEAR, ESPECIALLY IN SHALLOW WATER, GOOD TO HEAR FROM YA AGAIN. WE WENT DOWN TO THE GULF FRI MORNIN BUT THE WIND WAS TOO MUCH FOR US TO EVEN TRY, TURNED AROUND AND HEADED BACK TO THE HOUSE, GLAD YA CAUGHT SOME.

hello all....i am new to this forum but have been trolling here for over a year now. I would just like to say thanks for all the valuable information ya'll have provided for me as i am rather new at this inshore fishing stuff. I purchased a boat about 8 months ago( a '03 keywest 1520 with a 75 evinrude)and now i live for the weekends.I really enjoy your place here and hope i dont ask to many silly questions.I have lived in Bay county for over 20 years but just recently got hooked on inshore fishing.The reason i did finally join this forum is 'cuz i here all this talk about "west bay" i really dont want to start anything but if 'ya know where to fish in east bay the fish are there.Old Dog..ever fished little oyster bar point... walker bayou...lathrup bayou..horseshoe ceek...eagles nest creek or even wetapo....some great spots...just take the time. I dont mean to sound arrogant by no means but i just think that east bay is just as good as any other part of the st andrews fisheries and deserves its just rewards

Been eavedropping on you guys for almost a year now but couldn't resist putting in my $.02. I started fishing salt at Econfina about a year ago with some good luck thanks to tips picked up here and the FS forum(recognize some of ya'll from there) but my inlaws moved to Lynn Haven so I've been fishing North Bay a little with no luck until last week. I hit a little grassy point just East? of the airport and found my first tailing reds and caught my first red on a topwater along with my wife catching her first red period(I think the screaming probably interfered with airport radar) on a strike king spinner and moments later my six year old caught him a nice keeper trout on his SK spinner, all w/i 30 minutes of hitting the water. Would have been a great day but I decided to run to a diiferent spot and my lower unit locked up on me. Thanks to a very nice crab fisher I didn't have to paddle to the ramp(call seatow)didn't get his name but he wouldn't accept any money and saved my family from a very bad day on the water. I didn't get his name but I do know where he lives and he'll be getting some south georgia veggies as soon as they start coming in. At the moment I'm a little partial to North bay.

Trout and reds can be found in all the waters, (except Deer Point Lake), in the PC area. Most people go where they are used to going and where they have caught fish before. Going to areas where you know that you have expectations of catching fish saves time and money, but it's fun to explore new areas as well.

John, numbers are down this spring for sure, but I've got to hang in there as the tide can turn.
I took Chalks advice, (should I have done that?
), the other day and went west. 5-10 winds were predicted that soon grew to 15-20. We fished hard and caught just 5 trout, but did catch and lose some reds, one a big 'un, and that was exciting.
Got a report from some friends in Apalachicola last night and the four of them, (excellent fishermen), caught just 6 trout all day??? It's not just me.
