Tried to get Dad (95 in July) out with me under the bimini but no go - I thought with the bigger boat and shade he would brave the sun which is his arch enemy. It would be nice to reciprocate all the times he took me when I was a kid :cry: Maybe soon...

Amanda stepped up to the plate and came with me - feeling bad for Dad and all or just wanting to get away from the garage sale my wife was having probably :-? Got a late start (having to help with the garage sale), stopped by Jerry's and he and D were very apologetic that the shrimp man hadn't been there yet.

Got to the LH around 8:30. The regular parking places were full up and just a few trucks and trailers were in the overflow areas. On the way out of the channel I was sorry that we had missed the early light but the wind wasn't blowing and all was right with the world.. after all with my wife having a garage sale she can't be going to garage sales!!

Didn't have a preference on which way to go but seemed like alot of boats were West so we moseyed over that way and tried in 4'-5' for a while...
Nothing happening but had time to figure out why the ff was working only on sim last trip.. duh! I guess that other wire was important after all...

Also, (Eerman) I was able to enter some numbers into the GPS72 manually that I had gotten from a good hearted forum member. Found out that 9+ miles wasn't where I wanted to go being so late and just getting more acquainted with the new boat.

We messed around and went shallower and picked up a 22" on a chug bug. Amanda got a shourt on a CC under a CT, lost a papa pin and that was it! Checked in with SirReel on the radio to see what was going on.. he said, "I not fishing, I'm sitting at home watching baseball..." He must have thought that I thought that the radio that came with my boat was a super dooper one or something.. :-?

Anyway, got to the ramp around 1430 without anything going wrong (except lack of fish). Found out that loading the boat with the bimini up AND the breeze blowing was a little harder than without it up - had to try a couple of times and determined that I obviously didn't have the trailer in the sweet spot. Thanks for the patience shown by those in the loading area!

Cracked a lens on the camelia bush when I parked the boat ... gave me a reason to go get the replacement for the light socket that didn't work anyway...

Steve, called you on the radio when I got back home to see if you were listening. Found out no one was listening!

Good day.. no fog, no wind to speak of, helped out the arabs...

Should be better next time

Congratulations on successful GPS operation. Did you wear a pretty shirt? If you wear a pretty shirt, it makes those 9 miles pass by like nothing. :-D

Any trip with your daughter, for whatever reason, is a good trip.

Daughter + had fun + nothing broke = Good Trip. :thumbup: :thumbup:

Way to stick with the program RB :thumbup: I only beat ya out by probably 30 or 40 minutes. Had Blind Hog along with me and we had to rout around real hard to just come up with 6 good keepers. (Got pictures but still in the camera) Threw back two that were 15 but didn't want to take a chance. Only had 12 or 15 shorts and a couple of catfish. One puffer keep following our grub to the boat like a little puppy. I had fun load'n my skiff as well even with no top up!. Almost had the sideways drift to the trailer figured just right but as usually happens the boat turned on a bit of an angle at the last minute and the trailer was in just about 2 inches too deep so I need to touch up a 2 inch scratch on the edge where the side meets the bottom :roll: (AGAIN!). And as anybody who has owned a Carolina Skiff knows... ya just don't back one of them things up! Course that don't help when the crowd watch'n don't have any idea why your circle'n around again. I've always compared load'n a skiff with the wind akin to driving a giant pumpkin seed! And then them terrorist Camellia bushes... now that's another story all together.
"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".
