Maybe you misunderstood my post wevans, that one in the picture was the bait we were using for the really big Flint River cats.

My problem with my wife is she likes bream better than catfish. The bream we use for bait is good hand size, (that's bait on the ground in the picture) so I have to fight them away from her ever time I bait up. As big as these Flatheads are, they still taste as clean as the little channel cats. :lick: We sometimes use channel cats about 5-6 inches long for bait too. Ya'll need to come up and try it when the river cleans up a little. We fish for them mostly in the daytime.

Good catch CS.

The flathead fishing will continue to pick up for the next couple of months.

Historically May and June have been best for us.

Dewyafish, It will pick up if the river gets back to normal fast. They don't like falling water at all. It'll be falling for some time to come. Sure messed up the Speckled Perch, and Striper fishing. I should be wearing them out right now, but the river is too high, fast, and muddy.

Them cats do like the rising or stable water.

I like it low and clear for my shoal bass fishing.

I saw a couple of boats from the by-pass bridge up next to the dam yesterday afternoon.
You heard any reports from over there??

No I havn't heard anything about the dam. I don't fish the dam much anymore. Got too crowded. The only reason I go there now is to launch my boat to fish the upper shoals. I take out at hwy 32 bridge. If I'm fishing Abrams Shoals I put in at 32 bridge and take out at the Sportsmans Club. Or maybe your talking about the Albany Dam. If the water is backed up on the bank, the Whites and Hybrids should be bitting. Had hoped to get some river fishing in before those idiots on jet boats and skis take to the water. Ain't looking good now. It's getting hot fast.

I WAS talking about the dam at Albany.
Water is rolling through there this am.

You and I like to fish the same stretches of river.
Hope to see you out there soon.
