2006 Hobie Outback Rigging by Ron Harrison.

Post by RonHarrison »

Here are some layouts from the rigging of my 2006 Hobie Outback as of 05/2006. I've had almost as much fun rigging my kayak as anything else surrounding kayak fishing! In addition to the pictures, you get some information and commentary on what was used in the rigging. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or would like additional information about anything you see here!

The following link is to a 14-page Adobe Acrobat file (.pdf) that's a little over 5 MB! 2006 Hobie Outback Rigging by Ron Harrison

The following are some examples of the layout, in low-res format:

That's pretty neat. Where is your tackle box?
What was I supposed to do today?

Thanks! I'm glad you like the info.

The .pdf file linked above has 14-pages with many more layouts. The last few pages are descriptions of what you're seeing in the layouts and hence the A, B, C, etc. labelling.

Below is one of the other layouts that better shows the standard tackle box in a couple of configurations. The Outback supports the rectangular Plano Waterproof StowAway (TM) Utility Boxes rather nicely.

Hey Ron,
Great job all around! Didn't notice it at first, but your rigging of a child's seat using the tankwell for her feet is really cool--wish my kids/grandkids were still young enough to do that. You really ought to post that over on Hobiecat or KFS as a separate post with closeups of how you rigged the attachment hardware, brand of seat, etc.
Best,
Dick

Thanks, Dick! I'm honored getting a compliment from the master.

I've actually pointed out that the Outback can be semi-tandem to a couple of folks over at KFS. The best thing about that setup is that it uses a standard seat and uses the standard deck loops on the 2006 Outback. I didn't have to install a single thing to set it up. I just adjusted the seat straps and paddled off!
