River Access in N.E. Tallahassee?

Post by RonHarrison »

I ran into a gentleman in a kayak on Lake Iamonia a few weeks ago. He told me that he typically fishes the river (Ocholocknee???) near there and went on to describe somewhere, nearby, where he launches.

He described it as his favorite place to fish and, naturally, aroused my interest.

He explained where he launches, but I just don't remember the details and couldn't envision where he was talking about. My foggy memory seems like he mentioned something about Meridian Road.

Anyway, does anyone know of any convenient river access locations here in the N.E. of Tally?

Thanks!

You used to be able to launch a small boat at Hwy. 12 which is way out Meredian, north of town.
You can still launch on Old Bainbridge rd. just past Orchard Pond rd.

Hwy 12 is also known as Fairbanks Ferry rd. Turn left onto it off Meridian and go till you see the river.

Thanks for the "Fairbanks Ferry Road" tip! Google Earth is becoming a dear friend. Can't believe how close I am to that launch!!! More water! Yippee!
