Mako and me hit the road to Lanark 0545 Saturday morning. Put in at the ramp at Lannark just after sunrise.
Engine was running really rough even with the new plugs. There was hardly any wind at all. Went west first about halfway to the river. Immidiately started getting flaheads. Moved eastward toward the channel. Start to run south in the channel when the “manâ€

Man...I hate to hear that about your power head .
Dependine on the age of your motor, you might want to look for a used total replacment.
What was the red thing the man was referring to???
The powerhead was bad news. Waivel said it looked like someone had beat the piston head with a hammer, and cylinder #3 had "0" compression. I suspect one of the piston rings broke into pieces and some of the pieces got caught in the combustion chamber. That 29 year old motor ran great, and never left me stranded. According to my GPS, I ran that engine about 2,100 miles since I bought it from Tin Can two years ago.
That red thing...
is my brand new push pole, or push stick or whatever you want to call it. The FWC Officers were impressed. That darn pole "glows" in the dark.
I am hoping to negotiate a deal to get a 1980's 70hp Evinrude from a lifelong friend of the family. Waivel said he could hang it on the transom for me. I don't know when I'll be back on the water, but my hopes are high .....

Dang Man !! and I thought the tailgate was a big-deal... "mj understands"
I'm puttin a new dept finder on my boat, yea.. its still for sale but Im gettin a good deal on a trade-in, an I figure atleast I can fish until it bought.
How have these warmer sea's helped anybody else out there ?
Listen, I've got to run my kid to the doctor but any responce I'll get back to asap !! & mj sorry again to hear about the motor .......
I forgot to mention Mako messed up his tailgate while backing my boat back into the driveway. He had opened his topper window and the tailgate accidentally flopped open while he was backing the boat in. I heard a strange metal bending sound and said "WOAH_ WOAH". Mako had jackknifed the trailer and bent he heck out of his tailgate on my jack stand. I was all shook up about it because it really dented the heck out of his tailgate. But now jat I am without a working motor... I am feeling rather sick...
Sorry about your tailgate Mako what a way to remember a fishing trip -
