Apalachee Bay 5.28.06

Post by Fighting Conch »

Finally went boating and fishing yesterday after too many weeks of work work work. Definitely over did it; ended up with 40 miles and a sunburn. 5 trout near the old Duck Blind, 2 strong break-offs by Bottoms, 2 more trout on the West Flats toward the Bird Rack, and finished the fishing with 4 reds at Goose Creek Bay. Experienced early morning fog out of Spring Creek, spent a couple of hours in the water with friends surrounded by at least 30 boats on the spoil mound, and navigated the chaos out front of Shell Point. Today I rest.

Great Post Skag,
Love the Google view- What kind of GPS do yo use?
I'm guessing you upload the rout to your PC.
I keep looking at getting a GPS. This month Boat money went for a bow mount trolling motor.

I've got a $199 Garmin GPS 76 which works great. But it would be much better to have a unit with color mapping so I am waiting for the prices to get to where I justify something nice for use in both boat and car. For a $20 fee you can subscribe to Google Earth Plus which allows downloading and mapping of waypoints, tracks and routes and provides a data back-up.

Cool mapping, Skag. After you left the birdrack and headed back for the creek, we drifted the east flats in about 3 feet and caught a few trout. Bite sure seemed scattered this weekend.
