The schools of big redfish seem to have moved on up the peninsula. I caught plenty of schooling slot reds but didn't find those schools of 30"ers that had been prowling the lower end of the Bay last weekend. Caught 'em on topwater, soft jerkbaits, and of course a gold spoon.
The numbers of mullet in the Bay was incredible. SJB always seems to have a lot of mullet, but I've never seen as many mullet as I did this weekend. Saturday morning they were so thick 5 actually jumped into the side of the boat. The redfish in SJB love to follow the mullet just like reds in most places , but when you're looking at a school of mullet that covers square miles its kinda hard to know where to start looking for the reds. I think I figured it out though. We found reds when we found LY's mixed in with the mullet. Coincidence? I don't think so.
On a side note, we ate lunch Sunday at the Loggerhead Grill.

It was another great weekend on SJB. Can't wait til next time.
