Panacea 5/28

Post by Eerman »

Got on the water about 6 this morning. Decided to cruise a little and see if I can find some new holes. Found a couple of nice spots but I think I needed to be there around high tide. Did manage to quick release a nice red (23-24") at the boat with my spoon in his mouth :smt010 . Snagged a hefty ray that was about the best fight of the day, managed to get my lure back. Saw about a 10' alligator that seemed to be lost. Finally went back to a known hole and caught several 16" trout. Couldn't find the big 'un. Had several trout follow my lure all the way to the boat...bumping it from the side. I swear they were looking for a date. :smt007 :smt007 . I could stop it...reel faster...jig it...whatever, they seemed content to just give it their best roundhouse and move on. Good day despite the heat and the bugs trying to carry me away.

Sounds like a day of close calls. Hate when trout do that!

Too bad on that red...you'll get him next time.
Where was that gator, cruising the shoreline, or was he in deeper water?

I've decided trout shut their eyes when they strike at topwater baits.

Stingrays pull hard.

Rocket, the gator was off the east end of Piney Island. TC, just plain ole white...should have worn chartreuse. :-D
