Sunday we hit the water a little earlier, no takers on trolling so we anchor down. I caught a couple grunts and a nice trigger, then we started loosing bait and never felt a bite......John and I suit up, grab the spears and head down. STRONG CURRENT!!! I barely made to the anchor line, but headed down anyway. Vis is 20-30 feet, water temp was 74. On the bottom we swam right up to a huge Logger Head? turtle sleeping....he didn't pay us any attention. We continue on into the current.....seeing no fish to speak of and decide to turn around and head back.......upon turning around we see a school of 10 or so, under size gags following us. They proceed to lead us to their hide out. I smacked a big gag grouper and before I can get another shaft in the gun a big red shows up, shoot him too and hand him off to John and a big sheep head shows up.......he stayed just out of range. I'm getting low on air and know we have a LONG swim against the current to get back, so we head out. It was a tough dive but fun anyway. We take a break for lunch and a school of spanish swim by, I toss a buck tail and catch a nice 6 or 7 pounder! After that we trolled back to marker 24 with no bites at all........
Fun trip with some fish for the freezer.
Sorry no pics, batteries were dead.
