I should entitle this report "lots of catching not much keeping"

Had my sister, brother-in-law, and their`seven year old, Tyler, on board. Knew we were going to have that afternoon sea breeze kicking up in the PM out of the SW. So for the young mans first offshore trip Franklin County Reef sounded like a good bet. Had a blast watching Tyler catching pins and knew it was only going to get better. The run to FCR was smooth with only a light chop to deal with. Arrived at the reef, anchored, and started the chum slick. Took about thirty minutes for the bite to start but, when it did it was steady grouper action for the next hour. Ended up catching fifteen gags with only one legal at 24". All the rest were in the 18-21" range. I was a little disappointed but, Tyler could have care less. All he knew was that he was catching groupa and having his picture made to show his friends back in Winder. I don't think he quit smiling the whole time he was on the boat

Maybe I need to just enjoy the trips more and not worry about how many go in the box. Got schooled by a couple of large AJs. Got one close enough to see he was in the 30lb range. Even had a nice cobia show up and refuse everything I threw at him. How can they turn down a lively pin

Headed back in around 2:00 with a tired but, happy crew. Not much in the box but lots of good memories. My sister took all the pictures with her camera. I'll post as soon as she sends them to me. Great day on the water. Back in the river the FMP and the Coast Guard were both busy checking boats going both ways.
