Presnells Tournament June 3

Post by Scott7138 »

Sorry for the late post. Missed the captains meeting Friday night which led to me fishing in the wrong direction. Me and the girlfriend got on the water about 7am and headed north about a half mile. Started with a chug bug and boated 2 nice keepers between 17 and 18". Things slowed down a little and the wind started picking up. I did have one red follow one of my hook ups to the boat. Only Red I saw all day. Went to the east side of Blacks Island and started a drift with the jig and CT. Picked up one keeper and a few shorts. 3 in the boat now and it is about 11:00. Tried a few spots with one here and there, nothing consistent. The one thing that caught my eye was the amount of boats anchored and live bait fishing. Bottom line is we both limited out on trout with nothing over 20". So I am thinking it will be respectable weigh in with two limits. I did land my first Cobia, although way short of legal, it was some fun. When I got to the weigh in they were paying big fish only and most spots on Reds. Here is what won:
Trout: 1st and second were both over 5 lbs.
Red: 18 spots first and I think 5 spots got second
Needless to say I did not weigh any of my catch, but the music was awsome and the food was good. As will be the trout when the hit the grease. Good time had by all and some nice door prizesImageImage
