Aucilla 6/11

Post by rocket »

Boy did NOAA have it wrong today. When I went to bed last night it was supposed to be gale force winds by late morning. After noticing there was no wind on the hill, I decided to go for it. Didn't get on the h2o until almost 13:00 but managed two keeper reds (19") in a little less than an hour.
I noticed my gps quit working :o Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!!! Eased back towards the hill, then fished a little more...nada. Decided to come home, and watch the race with my boys.
Wind never even produced a whitecap. Off the water by 15:00.

Way to make quick work of 'em. Seems the wind started picking up here about 2 hours ago.

NOOA hasn't been right at all the past several weeks. I have been to Aucilla 6-7 times this past month..and it's always just short of whitecapping in the mornings till close to noon....then it calms down....and then about 1 oclock the afternoon sea breeze kicks in and it gets pretty rough.
We went this past Friday. It was just like that....weather wise. Fishing was slow too. We only caught 4 keeper trout...but the big thing is I got punctured by a little hardhead catfish in the hand...while taking it off. My hand swelled up pretty big...and hurt like ----.They are a curse on society. It like to have cancelled our trip....but I shortly caught about a7-8lb cobio...and when the fight was over....my hand almost quit hurting. Oh by the way....only thing I had in the boat was a little bottle of tylenol ...that had an expiration date of....1995. I took 3 of them....and kept fishing. :-?

My 3 year old likes Denny Hamlin, so I was ok with him winning ( I would have rather seen the 8 car win :-D ).
Found a rusty - end on a battery in my gps. Glad that's all it was.
F989...sorry about your hand :smt013 sounds like you toughed it out though.
Eerman, were you fishing over at Panacea today?
