Me and Lil Chalk left the house about 6:30 this morning...I decided to take him to the unimproved ramp I had been using, hoping the sand gnats and biting flies would allow me to launch the boat without eating my 6 year old son :o  .

We launch and make our way out into the bay....Boat ran fine, runs real good with gas in the tank.

Stop at a point and start fishing, Lil Chalk says he wants to redfish :-D ....Saw a few nice trout...Fished in a creek that has always had a few reds in it, but no dice....Guide boat sneaked up behind me and was fishing the bank I wanted to....We motor down to a place me and Tincan found back in the winter...Start fishing and swatting bumble bees, Lil Chalk didn't care for them bumble bees hoovering in his face. I probably killed 10 or so of them things.

At this point it is getting late, tide is getting close to peaking and I hadn't shown lil Chalk much action. We ease into a bayou, I see a few redfish but no bites...Actually looked like an off day, the mullet were kinda off in their aerial displays...Fish down one bank then back up the other side...Finally get a bite from a rat red, let Lil Chalk reel it in, one picture and back into the drink. Fish on out the bayou, thinking the day is looking pretty poor compared to yesterday...Decide to fish the bank east of the bayou...Finally lock into a nice 21" red and let Lil Chalk fight it a little and then he helps me net the fish. We work the bank a little more, I was thinking to myself where are the redfish at, this is a nice bank...BAM...Nice 25.5" redfish makes it's way to the boat with some assistance from Lil Chalk.

Lil Chalk says he is ready to go...4 hours on the gulf with my son, can't wait til next time.
