Finally got back home and fishing was the priority today. Got a late start left the house around 6:30, was sliding across the bay by 7:00. My wife had a request for grilled redfish, so the pressure was on, plus I was wearing a visor Birddog had given me. I'm sometimes superstitious about wearing new hats fishing, but I was confident I could break the hat in or throw it in the bay

I wanted to stop and get five gallons of fuel, but the fuel gauge says 1/2 a tank, I'm late...I should have 15 gallons = 60 miles of fishing... I opt to go without stopping for fuel...more on this later

Arrive at my honey hole...first couple of casts and I get bit by a redfish on topwater, came off after a short battle, dam hat  ....Sun is up, lets try a spoon.....red on, red off :smt013 .....I keep chunk'n...Bam!...Water comes alive with a trout that appeared to be as long as a fence post :o  ...You guessed it, dam hat...Fish off :smt010

Find three 16" reds holed up in a creek, three cast and three fish, the hat gets a reprieve from going into the drink

I wanted to go find some new water, but I also had an order for redfish to fill....I cruise down the bay to check out some prospective spots...no grass equals no fish so I motored back to my honey hole.

Nice point with a grass island and a 15 foot gap between the island and point...Skitterwalk goes sailing down the grass line...to be mangled by a 30" plus red, first he missed it...then he comes back and makes contact....fish on :-D ....DAM HAT :smt011 ..Fish gone.....But the red had a partner...I pick up the spoon and fired it back into the zone...Bam..meat on the table, momma's order is filled :-D

Ease on down the bank pick up a few more reds and a 21" trout. Time to go find some new water.

I ride across the bay, find spotty bottom, bank looks good....I ease in, water is too shallow, so I ease to the edge of the grass line..good relief, water went from 2' to 5' in about 15 foot...grass, bait, stingrays...There has to be a trout here.....I fish a couple hundred yards of this beautiful clear water, only see two or three trout....Hmmmmm...I say to myself where the hell are the trout....Just then I see a 2 foot stingray, that looks funny....Look at the trout (as in plural) :o ...I counted 7 trout on the back of this stingray all over 15"...Never seen that, pretty cool.

I fish here and there....ease back around to the north....nothing... decide to cross the bay and hit a bayou I wanted to investigate....Fished in there picked up a couple of dink trout and a mangrove snapper on a mirrolure and 12 inch one on a fluke, weird.

Well Lil Chalk wants to fish tomorrow and I need to find some trout...Let me go check my trout hole...off we go to the trout hole, wide open.....Engine start cutting out :o WTF....I ease off the throttle, clears up...hit it again...starts again, the ramp is between me and the trout hole, so I opt for the ramp....Limp back, hit it again close to the ramp and it is still cutting out...Fuel gauge says 1/4 to 1/2 a tank....I put her on the trailer wondering what the deal is.....25 gallons later I have a full fuel tank  ...My tank hold 30 gallons, but is about 4 foot long....I haven't checked it out, talking with Tincan, were pretty sure I almost ran out of gas.

Long drawn out story, but I have been in Tucson Az for a little over a month...Kinda pumped, good to be back on the water.

Hooked 10-12 redfish, landed around 7, biggest 25"
Caught 10 or so trout - biggest 21"
2 mangrove snappers
$70 dollars of fuel
One fishing visor broken in
A day on the gulf, Priceless

Very nice report. I'd better check my fuel, my Aquasport has had between 1/2 and 1/4 tank now for the last three trips.

Yeah...I don't trust my fuel gauge either. One of these days I suspect I'm gonna find out the hard way as well, however I'm sure I won't be in sight of the ramp!
Nice job on the feeesh

Glad you got to go release some of that fishing frustration.

I had to go get my glasses so I could make sure that hat said what I thought it did...then I had my wife come read it to make sure I wan't hallucinating...did a leash come with the hat :-D :-D

Nice fishes...glad that ramp didn't sneak too far away.

Didn't the guy that gave you that visor run out of gas a while back. 8) .....maybe its cursed in other ways than losing fish. :o

Just had to pick at BD a little

My boats tank is a plastic mounted in full view under the console, so I don't have to rely soley on the gauge. Some advantages to having a cheap boat. :-D
