Great places and tricks for redfish

Post by dcmcelreath07 »

Im just curious in what everyones favorite types of areas and conditions for catching redfish and what results you get. Also what type of baits are your favorite? Not being a big oyster bar fishing fan, some of my favorite spots are little cuts back up in the tall grass- i have a shanoe perfect for getting in them- i love a gold spoon or a D.O.A. shrimp. Give me your input

I like to fish new grass banks, meaning I look for green grass and it is usually broken up....Solid grass line (old grass lines) never seem to hold fish for me unless there is structure associated with it.

My favorite bait is topwater

I am still learning, hope to practice a little Friday :-D

BTW welcome aboard

Almost always seems like they come from spots where water is flowing in or around oyster bars, doesn't seem to matter which direction (in or out). I've never had much luck working around grass...but I just don't know much about those ares...

Best bets have been a Redfish Magic spinnerbait or a gold spoon. Gold spoon seems to work, mostly because you can cover the most territory with it - it'll cast from here to Georgia.

I LIKE THOSE SPOTS ALONG THE GRASS AS WELL. BUT I REALLY LIKE THE NARROW AND SHALLOW CREEKS. I LIKE TO CRUISE IN WITH THE TROLLING MOTOR ON HIGH AND IF I CAN SPOOK THREE OF FOUR REAL QUICK THEN I WILL FISH THE CREEK. IF YOU JUST START FISHING THE CREEK YOU COULD SPEND A LOT OF TIME FOR NOTHING. THE OTHER TARGET ARE POINTS WITH HARD BOTTOM (ROCK, SHELL, ETC). IF YOU FISHED EVERY POINT BETWEEN ST MARKS AND ECKY 0VER 80% WOULD PROBABLY HAVE HARD BOTTOM (JUST A GUESS) AND NO FISH. IF YOU DID THIS THREE OR FOUR TIMES YOU WOULD FIND THAT MOST OF THE POINTS THAT YOU CAUGHT FISH ON WILL HOLD FISH YEAR ROUND.
