St Joe Bay

Post by fish on!! »

Headed down to St Joe this weekend to dodge scallopers :smt013 and hopefully catch some fish. I must be nuts. Havent fished the bay in a couple of years. Any tips or reports would be greatly appreciated. Plan to target trout and redfish only. Thanks.

Might sound vague but the middle grounds and fishing the edge would probably be the best advice...Til you find them.

Me and Birddog are suppose to be there Saturday...We will fishing the edge, middle and all other points in between

Thanks. I have caught fish in the black island area in the past.

What about mr. 1-850-BAY-FISH. What have you seen lately?

Me and my boys will be down there the 30th-4th as well. We've done well in the past near Black Island. Fish the grass closer to deeper water.

fished between Pig and Blacks Island this past weekend. Lots of company there as well. Lots of folks moving around, so they most likely were like us, bites were few and far between. Boated two nice 19" trout and a couple of blues but it was slow for the most part. Grass up around Pompano Pt and Oak Grove is short and lacking this year.

Good deal. Ya'll look out for the crestliner and say hello. Has anyone heard if there are an abundance of scallops to draw people in by the thousands? I apologize to all you scallopers but I kinda hope they are sparse for fishing sake. :-D

FYI - All the scallops left St. Joe Bay in favor of St. Marks and Econfina river areas.

That is all.

TY
