I have a aluminum Lund also and there's no pitting at all on the hull nor does it leak and it's a '94 however the pitting is severe on the transom. Waivel Porter welded over the worse spots and said it was caused from leaving the battery connected when not in use. He said it should be disconnected after use - wish I had of known this years ago!

My Grummin leaks all the time.I'm constantly looking for the leaks. I use it a great deal in saltwater....sure hate to think of disconnecting my battery ground cable everytime I use it....and the problems that would start with all my electronics.. Might have to put up with the leaks till I can get a fiberglass hull..Come to think of it...my trade-in boat on this Grummen was a fiberglasss Monark...kept 18 years....and it always leaked. I guess that's why I have a great bilge pump....and am just unlucky on leaking boats.
Went to Aucilla yesterday...only had to pump it once.

You can install a battery isolator switch and simply turn it to the off position.

The thing is ....my boat is a simple john, and I remove the batteries for charging. There NO electrical connections to the hull at all.

The pitting started where the aluminum hull sits on the carpet covered runners......

I am looking for a fiberglas skiff or I may build the XF 20.
