Me and Birddog hit the bay bright and early this morning, not much water moving, moon was off, but the tide was okay and we were off wherk, no better time to go than the present :-D

Hard day of fishing, but we managed somewhere between 20 and 30 trout, 3 over 21", biggest was 23"...We got a two man limit...Most of the fish were in the slot, a few dinks mixed in as well....Redfish were on vacation, only managed to catch 2, only one being a keeper.

Jerk baits and jigs were the preferred meal of the phishies today. I had an incounter with a jerk bait, birddog was highly anticipating a hook extraction  , but I managed to remove the hook myself, the barb barely went in :smt007

Hazy cloud cover kept the temperature down to a bearable level.

We did real well on the inconsiderate boaters   , we only had three run through our drift...which was really good, since I counted over 50 boats at 10:00....I believe it was double that after lunch

All in all I think we did real well for the lack of water movement and boat traffic. Appreciate the invite Birddog, can't wait til next time.

Only took one picture, me with a 22" trout

We were there as well. We (my 9yr old and I) only caught 2 keepers but caught the heck outa the shorts. We also got in the blues and ladyfish and he had a blast. I quit fishing and sat near the front deck with hook remover and pliars for about 30 straight minutes while he hauled in fish after fish. In fact the next day the wife and 7yr. old went and we did the same thing. I had to keep one hand on the rod and one on the shoulder of my youngest to keep him in the boat. We may not have put alot in the cooler but I've got fishing partners for life now and the memories to go with it.

Sounds like you have your priorities right. Time well spent, and worth way more than meat in the cooler.

I fished out of Cape San Blas Park June 28 in the evening an we caught a lot of big Blues, which were a blast on topwater and in a kayak. We also attracted a lot of sharks and had some fun trying to hook those up on topwater too. We only managed to atrtract one small trout. I did much better with topwater for Reds the next morning just outside the park around some docks.
