live well pumps

Post by gypsea »

Problem #2 on Destin trip, live well pump quit. Does anyone know a high quality pump to replace the Angler one? Dealer already replaced it about 4 months after I bought the boat(Angler 204fxle). All it does now is buzz. Even if it's still under warranty I don't know if I want the piece of crap that they put in it. It powers the 2 20gal wells in the back. I don't think it was overwhelmed or anything. I don't catch much fish as it is. I would at least like to have live bait to drown.

Sounds like debris in the impeller. Is your screen missing?

Thanks for the info. I took the pump out today. The impeller had broken off from the motor. It was a Johnson 4810, 1250gph. The shaft looked very rusted. It was also very noisy, sometime worse than others, like it was vibrating against something. That was when it was working good. I will check out the Attwell. Thanks. P.S. It will NOT get another Johnson.:smt004
