Aucilla River 11July06

Post by Fisherman989 »

Made my best trip to Aucilla in a long time today. Got a 10 lb red...5 lb trout...4 lb trout and 3 more trout that would go about 16-17 in. Limited out. Gulp shrimp was the ticket...streight line or C/T. Caught the big red on a silver dollar size pinfish with c/t.
Went about 1/2 way toImage Econfina....in close . We turned around at the grass line and went back out 1/2 mile to drift in. You don't have to be in 7-9 feet water to really catch good uns
Camera batteries died before I could get a picture of the big red. This is the 5 lber. My buddy got a 4lb red and 3 good size (1 @ 22in) trout.
That umbrella saved me in all the heat today too.

That's a sweet fish. Sounds like a few other nice ones escaped the camera.

Way to go! That little stretch of water has really been productive this year. I've fished that same area on 13 early morning trips in the past
6 weeks and limited on trout in a max of 3 hours and last weekend
it only took two hours each trip. Thankfully, each limit has had a
23-24 incher. I've been spooled several times by unknown species
and caught several short reds and a couple of nice keepers.
I've had 3 trout follow a topwater to the boat that we really "gators."
Guess they don't get that big by being easily fooled. :-D
But the thought of them keep me chunkin'.
It may be that my sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

THAT IS A FINE LOOKIN TROUT, I GUESS I MIGHT HAVE TO HEAD OVER TO THE AUCILLA AREA NEXT TIME. WE WORKED VERY HARD YESTERDAY TO BRING HOME ENOUGH TROUT FOR SUPPER. I WOULD LIKE TO CATCH A LIMIT ONE MORE TIME BEFORE I GET TOO OLD TO GO.
