Are through hull transducers really worth the billing. I have a Lowrance LCX 19 bottom machine that I am having a tough time seeing the bottom with and am wondering if it has something to do with my transom mount transducer. I know the through hulls are a bit more expensive but am questioning whether or not they are worth the cost. Any tips, advice or input would be appreciated.
I would double check the mounting/angle/tightness of the transducer....I've had 3 with no problems at all.....the correct angle and location(how far below the bottom) is very important.... the owners guide should have a template for this info....good luck..
I have problems with mine throwing in wild readings every five seconds or so - running or at rest. I have to ignore obvious bad readings. I dunno if I am getting errors from the transducer or from the base unit or what. Any ideas? Admittedly, its a low end depth machine.
Any transducer should read well when idleing or drifting. Most people lose signal when running. If you're getting bogus readings all the time I'd suggest it's probably time to upgrade.
