St Joe Bay Fishing and Gathering

Post by Reel Slow »

Got a tip from BD that STB is a fun place to scallop :-D So, took the family down for 4 days of harvesting so to speak. Turns out the tides were perfect for first light reds (prior planning prevents poor performance) so I slipped out each morning for an hour or two while the kids slept off the prior days scalloping.

I located 2 schools of reds, one 18-20" and one 24-26". They provided good fun each morning in 18" of water. Sight fishing made more exciting by topwater action. Boated 5 slot reds to 26" on skitterwalk and 2 on spoon. Missed many more.

Went back and got the wife and kids and headed out to scallop. We found them in 4-6' of water and boated 4-6 gallons a day over about 2 hours. Loads of fun for the kids, as you can see I was not happy and would have rather been fishing as I hate to scallop :-D

Okay, I'm out of the closet, I love to scallop.

I could get used to that kind of livin, so anyone willing to sell me a beach house on the cheap, let me know.

Can't wait till next time.

Boats need water to float?? :-D Sounds like you and the family had a blast. I know what you mean about gettin' used to that kind of livin'. When you get that beach house on the cheap, make sure you send a key my way.
