BAIT CASTER

Post by FUTCHCAIRO »

I GOT MY FIRST ABU BACK IN THE 70'S, STILL USING IT, ALSO HAVE 8 MORE ABU'S 5500 THROUGH 6500. THESE ARE THE BEST CASTING REELS MADE. I HAVE CAUGHT FISH FROM 1/2# UP TO 79# ON THESE REELS, HAVE FAUGHT SOME FISH IN EXCESS OF 100# AND THEY ALL HAVE WORKED FLAWLESSLY. THE DRAG IS SMOOTH AS GLASS AND I THINK THIS WHY I LIKE THEM SO MUCH. I HAVE NEVER BROKEN A LINE IN A STRAIGHT PULL BECAUSE THE DRAGS ARE JUST GREAT. I HAVE MANY DIFFERENT REELS BUT THE ABU IS THE BEST THERE IS FOR INSHORE SALT OR FRESH WATER.

I really like my Calcutta's as well. Have caught grouper, kings, cobia, trout and reds on them and they still work like new.

 ABU,still using the old XLT's from my bass fishing days, gave all the shimanos to the boys. Also the Lew's 25SS,have a couple of them and they work great and also a couple of Pfleugers. It's just a matter of preference, that is why there are so many.

WOW what a Question, as for me Abu's all day long  and as for casting distance against other reels the world record casting is set by Abu Garcia for the second year in a row and don't know how many before that but the Shimano's are awesome to.

Abu all the way. For all the reasons that were mentioned in the other post.

Plus, the parts from one in the 70s will work in the ones made today.

Like their adds say, They make noise because we still use metal gears.
If we were all crazy, Wouldn't that make us all normal.
