Made a screaming trip to C'belle with one of my trout fishing buddies from up here. Got to the house at 10:00pm Friday night, up at 6:00 and had the boat fueling and taking on ice at the Moorings dock at 7:00. Ran to the back side of DI and caught about 3 doz pins. Stopped at a couple of the cans for some hadtails with no luck at all. Seas were a little higher than forcaste with sloppy twos and an occasional three. First stop was in 80' with two keeper gags in the 23-24" that hit live pins. Next two hits produced these two really nice redfish. One was 38" and the other right at 40". Still don't have this photo posting down so here's the link. http://www.forumpictureprocessor.com/ga ... llery=1160
Sharks show up so we headed to the Yamaha to try for a couple of AJs. Set up a chum slick, sent a couple of pins to the bottom and put out a dead bait on a fly line in the slick. Baitrunner with the dead bait starts screaming and a 5 lb spanish comes in. Next fish on runs out about 50 yards of line before he bites through the wire . Bottom rig gets hit 23" gag. Baitrunner is rerigged and ten minutes later it's screaming again. This time a 20 lb king goes in the box Did I mention how hot it was when the breeze died ? I'm thinking we've got plently of fish and it's about time to head in when within about two minutes both bottm rigs get hammered. 50 lb class tackle with the drags on full and both of these fish are going anywhere they want too. My buddy breaks off after about fifteen minutes and being the gracious captain that I am I pass my rod off to him. Did I mention how hot it was He fought it for another fifteen minutes before it got back down in the wreck and off. Since we never saw color I'm guessing big nurse sharks or Goliath grouper. Anyway, great day on the water and good eats that night at "That place on 98"
