FISHIN ST. MARKS

Post by FUTCHCAIRO »

THE TWO OLD MEN OF THE SEA LAUNCHED THE BARGE AT THE LIGHTHOUSE THIS MORNIN, TUES. AT 6:30, WENT OOUT TO THE MOUTH OF THE CANAL AND CAST FOR ABOUT 15 MIN. WITH NO STRIKES, PLENTY OF WATER JUST 1 HOUR OFF LOW TIDE. WENT OVER TO THE BAR IN FRONT OF THE LIGHTHOUSE AND CAST FOR ANOTHER 45 MIN. WITH JUST ONE KEEPER TROUT. WE WENT OVER TO THE WEST FLATS AND FISHED EVERYTHING IN THE TACKLE BOX AND ONLY MANAGED TO CATCH 7 TOTAL TROUT, 2 LARGE BLUES, 4 LARGE SAILCATS ON TOP WATER, SEVERAL LADIES AND THAT WAS IT. THE WATER TEMP. WAS 87.9, WIND WAS OUT OF THE NORTH ABOUT 3-5, WAS SUPPOSE TO BE OUT OF THE SOUTH AT 5-10. ABOUT 10 A.M. THE WIND STOPPED . DEAD CALM WITH NO WATER MOVEMENT. BY 10:30 THE TWO OLD MEN COULD NOT TAKE IT ANY LONGER, ESPECIALLY SINCE WE WERE NOT GETTING ANY STRIKES. BAIT FISH ALL OVER THE BAY WHERE WE FISHED. DID NOT CATCH ANY SHARKS BUT SEVERAL BULL SHARKS FOLLOWED TROUT WE HOOKED INTO THE BOAT THEY WERE ABOUT 3-4' LONG. VERY DISAPPOINTING DAY, EXTREEMELY HOT AND NO BREEZE. I GUESS WE WILL HAVE TO WAIT TILL THE WEATHER COOLS OFF BEFORE WE TRY AGAIN.

some tough fishing conditions right now. I tried Sunday and managed to get stuck high and dry, pulling the boat. Only fish caught were mangroves and shorts. Thanks for the report.

I don't believe Al Gore about anything, much less global warming.

I think it's just normal hot ole summertime....doesns't mean I enjoy it though.

PA, I think I'll try some 3am moonlitin this weekend around Anky!

Thanks for the reort!

I was thinking about heading west of the LH with some chum and beer and trying to hook-up with one of those bull sharks.

Good report.
