Two boat trip with me and three old fishing buddies, one of whom brought his 8 yr old son. Went out to some spotty bottom in 15' about 10:00 AM, drifted around and eventually put down the anchor. The 8 yr old had been itching for several weeks to get up close and personal with a big shark. We were thinking about going into shallow water and trying for a bull shark but saw a 10' hammerhead and about a 7' tiger come up and check out the boats. Shortly thereafter the tiger shark took half a lady fish we had set out on our shark rig. Got the fish in surprisingly quickly and snapped a few pics with a friend's camera. We had to deal with some consternation from the little guy who didn't want to let him go
Otherwise, caught undersized black sea bass, a few nice spanish mackeral and bluefish, a barely legal flounder (going in the oven tonight) and assorted thrash. Also got a few mullet inshore.
Enjoyed spending a day on the water with old friends and being able to take the kid out. That boy loves to fish as much as I do and definitely has more energy, stamina and optimism. He fished till he bitter end, trolling a jig up the lighthouse canal!
