Knife, Fork, an Spoon's

Post by BKTomblin Jr »

:D I've yet to master the skills (I guess you could say) to fish a spoon. Ive herd gold is the color, but does the size mater ? does it matter wether the spoon has a spinner on it ? Weedless or not ?
I know different things work for different situations but...
Alright I fish a spoon by casting-- after a wait reel-in at a steady (slow)speed with occational jerks   usually around or near a sand or oyster bar.
If your dept finder is showin a sharp decline do you think that would be a possibility ?

The only skill to master when fishing a spoon is "Chunk and Wind".

Size does matter. I have found the smaller spoons are generally better. Though the bigger spoons will run shallower.

Gold is not necessarily the color of choice.

If you're not catching redfish with a gold spoon, you're fishing where they ain't.

And what would the brand, size, and color of choice be?

Hummm :smt012 so Birddog are you sayin "silver" is the better choice (than Gold) ??
I hear ya  an I respect any responce :D I think I'm gonna try a "weedless, gold as well as silver, sandbar - crack - crevis" I think some trial-n-error is the best advice to follow :D
Once again I want to offer a " free fishing trip" if anybody's able on weekdays ??

Stick it in your ear, TinCan.

I am definately not saying silver is the color of choice. There are many colors available. Try'em all and see what you/or the fish prefer.

A couple of years ago, I picked up a handful of weedless gold spoons that have a small spring attached to the back end. I attached a 1 to 2 inch piece of bright red bass worm to the spoon via the spring, fish love it. Caught reds at St. Marks and even a snook in Sarasota Bay using that rig.

Still no straight answers...
Watch the RedFish cup and see what they use...
Gold a great choice! A spinner with a jig attached works good too.
Although Copper spoons work well for me!
