I let an "S-bomb" of joy slip out in WalMart...

Post by Atticus »

I have an Ugly Stick Intercoastal rod 7' MH that is basically my favorite cork poppin' stick in the world. I have been Googling and checking out tackle sites for a couple weeks looking for some more... NOTHING. Even checked Shakespear's online catalogue. It was like they never existed.

Well we went to WalMart today and I went to get some TC-W3 and took a stroll down the nearby fishing isle. To my delight I saw they had those Intercoastals there. "Well SUGAR!" I exclaimed out loud. :o

Then I turned around and this kid was standing there and his old man. Oops. He was looking at me like I was wierd. Don't know if it was the salty language or the talking to myself in the fishing tackle isle. :hammer:

I just couldn't contain myself. But they only had 2-piece models at the time. I basically threw an open-field tackle on the outdoor counter guy and demanded more details. He said they would be getting more soon. :lick:

I remembered I got the original one at WalMart too. Maybe its a WalMart thing? I got a bunch of rods there when I used to be in school. All Star rods too.

I was so worked-up I bought 3 Abu Garcia rods just to cure my fix.

Shakespeare makes rods exclusively for Wal-mart. They made a rod a few years back call the Shakespeare Titanium. One of the best inshore rods I've owned. After about a year I went back looking for more. Even contacted Shakespeare. They make their Wal-mart exclusive rods for a limited amount of time. When they're gone, they're gone.
What was I supposed to do today?

I too have purchased some "Shakespeare" rod-n-reel comb. that overall I've been pretty impressed with. Now their not going to run with Penn's  , but again for the money, not bad

I've got one also, but I find it a little on the flimsy side. I prefer my single piece shimano combo, and use the Shakespeare for back-up.

inshore ugly stick = I like them better than the Redbones I have. The allstar inshore rod I found at Wally world is my favorite. Here's hoping they get more in.
