No doubt. He's totally dependant on that one brand/color spoon. However, on several occasions, I've matched him, fish for fish, out of the same boat, with a different spoon.
I agree the best advice that's been given is if you ain't catchin reds on a spoon, they ain't there. Most of the time I use gold. They all work. Find the fish and you'll catch um.
Now, Mr. Birddog, I almost admire your diplomacy. I would admire it if I didn't know it was pure BS.

BK, I haven't tried copper. I'll add my usual statement about any bait. 90% of the baits manufactured today are designed to catch fishermen. Some catch fish. In addition, because of conditions, presentation and past success, what works for me might not work for you. I have a hand full of confidence baits. I like the Red Ripper spoons. Birddog likes a different brand spoon. They both work well. My advise to anyone would be to keep your string wet. If you ain't out there trying, you ain't gonna catch fish. If anyone fishes enough, they will wind up with a few confidence baits. There is absolutely no substitute for time spent on the water.

Confidence Baits will always overcome the ones you "think" might work or what the magazines tell you. I know, I got a box full of crap I've seen in the magazines and on TV but I always seem to go back to "old reliable", aka, my "secret weapon"
Find a bait you like (well, one that does catch fish) and it will always catch fish for you!
And for those other baits, well, "Even the Sun-shines on a dog's butt every now and then!"
