Best places to yak fish?

Post by Tom »

Where are good places to yak fish in the Big Bend area? Thinking about Hickory Mound, but heard they closed access road for repairs. Is it open? Other ideas/places?

1. Saint Marks Lighthouse (Every direction)
2. Saint Marks
3. Wakulla Beach (West Goose Creek)
4. Panacea (By old houseboat for put in)
5. Panacea (Bottoms Road two locations at and near end)
6. Panacea (Resturant Boat Ramp)
7. Bald Point
8. Ocholochnee Bay Bridge on Lanark Side
9. Lanark Village (And on side of the road to Lanark Village from Ochlocnee Bay)

That should help tide you over. Get a hot spot map to see some of these.

Make up my mind, cause if that gig falls through, I'm going to the North side of the mouth of the Ochlocknee Bay opening. Its loaded with Oyster beds and far enough from the warm water to have some good action right now. I've had bad results in the shallow stuff lately in evenings.

Your welcome, I've only lived here a couple of months. After I get the lay of the land I'll let you know some more spots.

I like Alligator Harbor (the sand ramp close to St Theresa). It is easy to launch from, the bait is right there, you can paddle over to Alligator Point if you need to get out of the wind, not that much boat traffic, lots of fish. Ive caught several large reds, trout, jacks, blues, Spanish, big sharks, and sadly many cats. Many sightings of tarpon lately.

A couple of us are going to launch from the sand ramp at 6-6:15am this Saturday morning if anyone wants to join us.

Thanks for putting up the maps Jsuber! We do appreciate your enthusiasm!!
