Question for my experienced friends.....

Post by ROTORHEAD »

I am going down to Port St. Joe the weekend of September 15th. I have never fished this area, inshore or offshore and am looking for some advice of where to go. I will have a friend of mine and his son and they have never saltwater fished. Any advice of where to go will be appreciated. I can run to a few spots offshore if it is 2' or less that weekend but I think they would be completely satisfied with a Trout or two. Also, he owns a beachfront house, can I park my boat in front of the house, just off the beach or should I use a marina? Thanks in advance!

Looking north to south, starting at Eagle Harbor draw a J from there to the city ramp....That area is generally where we fish, there some other places like the middle grounds, (south of Black's Island) and pompano point (north of eagle harbor)....There are fish to be had in all these areas, whether they are there and willing to bite is another story....The bay seems to be off (IMO) compared to last year....Go talk to Capt Fred at Presnell's he will give you the run down...I forget how many miles we ran the other day, but it was tough fishing...alot of shallow water in the back be careful....

I would use a boat ramp, leaving a boat moored off the beach too risky for me.

Good luck
