Five days of fishin in Welaka

Post by wevans »

The fishin was tuff to say the least! The water was cold, the air was cold and the wind was BLOWIN on the first two days =( My boat got nothin on the first day, of the other 3 boats there was 1 catfish and 2 brim =( On day two we changed tactics a little and got two keeper Bass in my boat, one a 7 1/2 pound lunker that was my partners first ever legal Bass  and a 3 pounder for me =) The others had one 2 pound Bass around 5 Catfish and 20 Brim :D On day 3 Igot talked into running over to Rodman and it took 3 1/2 hours for me to get the heck back out of it "stiff breeze, water temp. 64" and after a quick lunch we headed back to Little Lake George where we had found the fish the day before! We ended that day with a 5 pounder a 3 pounder and three 2 pounders :D The others stayed in the St. Johns and had a 3 pounder and a couple just over 12"'s, 7 Catfish "a couple nice ones" and around 20 brim again. Day 4 should have been our banner day but it was not to be :( fished daylight till dark and cought 1 five pounder and my pard got skunked, the others had 2 cats and just a few brim, but my nephew Mike and his dad finnaly got a fish smell in there boat with 2 nice stripers :D On day 5 we all looked at the water looked at the mess to clean up and all the stuff to load and said ta heck with fishin so we could get home a little early :o While we didn't slay the fish, our mission was accomplished, we had a great time and enjoyed every minute of it

Welcome back Wevans. Good report. One day you got a 5lb, a 3lb, and two 12'', I can remember lots of sizable tournaments I've fished that your catch would put you high in the money. Fine looking green trout you got in that ice box. Got a friend of mine bream fishing the St. Johns right now for a week. He called me yesterday and said they caught 90 big shellcracker and bream in two hours yesterday morning. :o
